Answers to common questions

How does Gutter Helmet® work?

Gutters become clogged when leaves and debris fall onto your roof and accumulate in the gutters. When it rains, debris in your gutters causes your downspouts to clog and your gutters to overflow. This causes rot and damage to your home, lawn, basement and landscaping.

Gutter Helmet® patented nose-forward design prevents leaves and debris from entering your gutter system. Your Gutter Helmet® system channels rainwater around the nose-forward panel and through a precise 3/8″ horizontal slit. In turn, the principles of gravity and surface tension combine to allow rainwater to flow into your gutters and leaves and debris to fall harmlessly to the ground below.

What is the best gutter guard product for Wisconsin?

In Wisconsin, we experience a continental climate that includes cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. Trees are plentiful and we must deal with seeds in the spring and leaves in the fall. A comprehensive gutter protection is a must. Gutter Helmet® is the most versatile gutter guard product on the market and we recommend it whole-heartedly for our Wisconsin weather. Not only does it shed unwanted debris away from your roof and gutters, it also has the capacity to contain even the harshest rainfall events.

Why are gutter guards important?

Gutters become useless when they are clogged with leaves and tree debris. They become unable to channel water properly into your drainage or rainwater collection system. The resulting buildup of water can then become a breeding ground for insects or overflow into and damage your landscaping, or seep into your roof, siding, basement and foundation.

A gutter protection system eliminates these issues by addressing the root cause: it keeps debris out of your gutters, ensuring that water only goes where it’s supposed to go.

How much does Gutter Helmet® protection cost?

Installation cost depends on a few factors, including:

  • the number of stories of your home;
  • the need for special equipment to perform the installation (due to the lay of the land or other variables);
  • the condition of your roof;
  • any fascia repair and replacement;
  • the size of your gutters
  • the type of roof you have
  • the overall length of all of your gutters; and
  • the number of corners on your home.

  • It's wonderful to see all the rain water pour out of the downspout instead of dripping over the edge because the eves trough were full of debris. Also won't have to worry about getting the debris out of the eves trough which would clog already inspring. Gutter Helmet is the answer!

  • It is too early to really tell how well they work, but I am already pleased that I didn't have to clean out all the maple seedlings from the neighbor's tree! I will know better by later this year, but don't expect any problems.
